Mr.R. Veeramani, the Founder Promoter
Of Gem Group, started his professional career as an Advocate in the Madras High Court. At the peak of a highly successful and distinguished legal career, he entered the Stone Industry in the year 1971, due to family circumstances. He had brought the latest technology in stone industry, mining and processing to India which were unknown at that time. He promoted many unknown stone varieties and built up many new markets for Indian Stone and value added products. Mr.R.Veeramani is a pioneer of the Global Stone and value added products. Mr.R.Veeramani is a pioneer of the Global Stone Industry whose relentless hard work and dynamic strategy established not only Gem Group but also the entire Indian Stone Industry in the International Market.
Mr.R.Veeramani is actively involved and heading several Public Organizations to promote trade and commerce. He is the founder member of several such organizations to represent the Industry.
Some of his Past and Present offices include:
All India president of "Confederation of Export Units"(CEU), representing all Export Oriented Units (100% EOU's) inside and outside Export Processing Zones (EPZ)
- Founder President of "All India Granites and Stone Association", Bangalore
- President of "Indo Japan Chamber of Commerce"
- All India president of "Indo American Chamber of Commerce"
- Chairman - Granite, natural Stones and Products Panel of CAPEXIL
Personal Achievements & Awards:
- Special award was given to our Chairman Mr.R.Veeramani for his outstanding contribution in the fields of Mining & Marketing Granites.
- Appointed as Chairman of Development Panel for Granite Industry by the Ministry of Industry, Government of India. During his tenure, his recommendations were accepted by the Government and thus the GDC (Granite Development Conservation) rules were framed and implemented.
- Appointed Chairman of Extreme Focus Committee for Granite Industry by the Ministry of Commerce and his report and recommendations were fully endorsed by the Government.
Social Activities:
As a service to the Society, he has founded the Non-profit - Anna Gem Science Park School, Chennai as a Joint Venture with Anna University.
Mr.Veeramani instituted an All India Award known as "GEM GRANITES ENVIRONMENT AWARD", in order to care, develop and protect the environment. This award is given through the Federation of Indian Mineral Industry (FIMI), New Delhi in association with Environment Ministry, Government of India.
